Welcome
to the Protective
Signaling JATC apprenticeship program.
Our program prepares individuals for the Oregon Limited Energy
Technician – Class A licensing exam and a career in a rapidly
changing
electrical industry.
Apprenticeship consists of on-the-job
training and industry-related
classes,
all designed to teach the industry from the bottom up.
Apprentices work at companies approved to supply our training and take
classes at Clackamas Community College in Wilsonville. At the end
of the program, individuals will be ready for a life-long career and
have the ability to extend their education into an Associate’s Degree.
This is a 6,000 hour (approximately
three year)
on-the-job training apprenticeship program. Apprentices will
learn to install, maintain, replace and repair electrical systems and
equipment of fewer than 100 volts-amperes.
The work may include: basic telephone cable installation and
termination, installation and repair of fire alarm systems,
intrusion/burglar alarm systems, audio/visual systems, closed-circuit
television, communications systems, fiber optics, programmable and
controlling instruments, local area networks, and structured wiring
systems. Our apprentices work indoors
and outdoors, in private residences and industrial buildings, on new
construction and existing structures, and in all types of weather.
